In the presence of Mr. Ali Omar, Deputy Governor of Nineveh, and Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, Dean of the College of Law and Political Science at Alnoor University, the Human Rights Division at the university held an awareness seminar on the morning of Monday, 27/10/2025, entitled (The National Strategy for Combating Human Trafficking) under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Qaidar Ahmed Mahmoud, with the participation of a group of specialists in this field
The seminar was divided into three main axes. The first axis, presented by Mr. Ali Omar, included an explanation of the role of Nineveh Governorate in combating human trafficking crimes, and the procedures of the concerned authorities to curb this phenomenon.
As for the second axis, it was presented by Dr. Shaimaa Jaafar, in which she addressed the role of the Survivors’ Law in combating human trafficking, and what it represents as a legal umbrella for protecting and supporting victims
In the third axis, Dr. Amer addressed the relevant international legislations, explaining the global legal frameworks and the adopted agreements aimed at combating this transboundary crime
The symposium concluded with an open discussion session that witnessed interaction from the attendees, who emphasized the importance of raising societal awareness and activating legal frameworks to protect human rights and enhance community security.
